Partner Mode
Most “partner modes” are a window into her body that she can’t close. This one is two switches she controls, and a whole second app that works whether or not she ever turns them on.
Six characters. It’s single-use and expires after seven days, so a code you sent once and thought better of stops working.
No account for them either, and no email. One subscription covers you both.
You’re connected, and both cycle switches are still off. Partner Mode is already fully usable at this point — sharing your cycle is an extra, not the price of entry.
What they can see
| They can see | Only if |
|---|---|
| Cycle day and phase | You switch it on |
| Predicted next period | You switch it on, separately |
| Your symptoms | Never — no switch exists |
| Your moods | Never |
| Your notes | Never |
| Your logged history | Never |
Switch something off and what you’d shared is removed from their phone. The permission is enforced by the database, not hidden in the app — their copy is refused the data at the source, which means it can’t be worked around by anyone, including us.
Turning a switch off never needs their agreement, and they’re not told to talk you out of it.
The other half
It’s a small, private place for the two of you — and both of you get the same one. Either of you can start anything.
Say what you need without having to find the words on a bad day. One tap tells him whether it’s the hot water bottle, the shop, or being left alone.
For low days and hard days, whatever the reason. He has his own cards too, so he can check in without waiting to be asked.
Seven quick questions each. ela works the evening out from both sets of answers, so nobody has to say “I don’t mind, what do you want?”
You both pick privately and only what you both chose is ever shown. An unmatched answer is never revealed — not as a hint, not as a count. That’s what makes it safe to be honest.
Ten questions each, answered about yourself and guessed about them, with a bet agreed up front. Over three hundred questions, so it stays new for a long time.
Cards with the words already written, which you can rewrite before sending. A thread that runs as long as you want it to and ends when one of you says so.
His side
Your partner gets the same screens, the same games and a deck of his own. He can open a flirt, start Secret Match, answer date night first, or send a check-in without being prompted. The only thing that differs is whose turn it is.
What he does not get is any view of your body you haven’t granted. His app has no screen that could show your symptoms, because the data never reaches his phone to be shown.
A line we won’t cross
Not for monitoring someone. ela will never let a partner request access, unlock a field, or be notified that you turned something off. Disconnecting is always available, always one-sided, and never asks you to explain.
If you’re being pressured into sharing, the switches are yours and so is the disconnect button. We designed it that way on purpose, and we say so in the terms rather than only here.
No. One ela Plus subscription covers both of you. They download the app, enter your code, and that’s it.
An existing connection keeps working. We’re not going to lock you out of a conversation you’re already having, or out of the switches that control your own data.
No. A couple is two people, and a code stops working the moment it’s used once.
His app simply stops showing that detail. There’s no alert, no “she revoked access” message, and nothing to prompt a conversation you didn’t want to have.
Entirely. Both switches off is a completely normal way to use it, and nothing in the app nags you to change that. Cards, date night and the games don’t touch your cycle at all.
