Terms of Service

Last updated 12 October 2026

These are the terms you agree to by using ela. We've kept them in plain language — they're still a contract, but there's no reason they should be unreadable.

The three that actually matter. ela is not a medical device and not contraception — don't make decisions about your health or pregnancy risk on its predictions alone. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, which you do in your Apple Account, not with us. And what you log belongs to you.

1. This agreement

ela is provided by Lavoro Company ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use ela — and if you've already paid, see section 5 about refunds.

You need to be at least 16 to use ela. If you're between 16 and the age of majority where you live, you confirm a parent or guardian is aware you're using it.

2. What ela is, and what it isn't

ela is a tool for recording your own menstrual cycle and seeing patterns in what you record. That's the whole of it.

ela is not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. It isn't a substitute for advice from a doctor, nurse or pharmacist, and nothing it shows you should delay you seeking that advice. If something about your cycle worries you, talk to a clinician.

ela is not a contraceptive. Fertile days and ovulation estimates are worked out from the dates you've entered. They are estimates, not measurements, and they must not be used as a method of avoiding or achieving pregnancy. Cycles shift for all sorts of reasons and an estimate can be wrong by days.

Predictions are predictions. ela shows a window rather than a date, and tells you how confident it is, precisely because it cannot know. Accuracy depends on what you log and on how regular your cycles happen to be.

3. Using ela

We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use ela on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. In return, please don't:

4. Partner Mode

Partner Mode connects your copy of ela with another person's. It only works if both people take an action: one generates a code, the other enters it.

What is shared is your decision alone. Cycle details are shared only through switches you control, each off by default, and you can switch them off at any time. Your partner cannot request, unlock or extend access, and there is nothing they can do in their app to see more than you've allowed.

Use it with someone you trust. ela is built for two people who want to be closer. It is not built to be installed on someone's phone by another person, used to monitor them, or used as a condition of a relationship. If you're being pressured into sharing, disconnect — the option is always available and never requires the other person's agreement.

You're responsible for what you send through Partner Mode. Don't send anything unlawful, and remember that the other person keeps what you've sent them in their own copy of the app.

5. Subscriptions, trials and refunds

ela's cycle tracking, insights, doctor summary and backup are free. ela Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks Partner Mode.

6. Your content

Everything you log is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to use it. Most of it never reaches us at all — our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what does and doesn't.

For the limited Partner Mode content that passes through our backend, you grant us only the permission required to store it and deliver it to the person you sent it to. We don't read it, analyse it, train anything on it, or use it for any other purpose.

7. Our content

The app, its design, its written content — including the cards, prompts and games — and the ela name and marks belong to us. Using the app doesn't transfer any of it to you.

8. Availability and changes

We'll try to keep ela working well, but we don't guarantee it will be available without interruption. Partner Mode depends on a network and on a third-party host, and will not work offline.

We may update the app, change features, or discontinue it. If we ever discontinue ela or Partner Mode, we'll give reasonable notice in the app and make sure you can export what you've logged first. If you've paid for a period you can't use, you'll be entitled to a pro-rata refund through Apple.

9. Warranties and liability

ela is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for any decision you make about your health, fertility or contraception based on the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you're a consumer, you keep all statutory rights your local law gives you, and nothing here overrides them.

10. Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms — in practice, that means the things in section 3. Sections 6, 7, 9 and 11 survive.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that state have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer resident in the EU, the UK or elsewhere with mandatory local protections, you may also bring proceedings in your own country and keep the protections of its law.
