Support

Help, and a person to ask.

Most of what people need is below. If yours isn’t, write to support@ela.app — it goes to a human, not a queue.

Getting started

What does ela need from me to be useful?

The date your last period started. That’s enough for a first prediction. Everything after that — symptoms, flow, notes — sharpens it, and ela will tell you how many more cycles it needs before it can say something more confident.

I don’t have periods right now.

Say so during setup and ela skips the questions that assume you do. You can still track symptoms and use Partner Mode.

I’m on the pill, implant or coil.

Tell ela during setup. A withdrawal bleed on a pack schedule is beautifully regular without saying anything about your underlying cycle, so ela stops claiming confidence it hasn’t earned — and it says so on the summary your doctor reads.

Can I log a period from the past?

Yes. Open the calendar, tap the day, and mark it. You can edit or remove any past period the same way, and your predictions update immediately.

Your data

I’m getting a new phone. What do I do?

On the old one: Settings → Your backup → Save a copy. Keep the file somewhere you’ll find it — Files, iCloud Drive, email it to yourself. On the new phone, install ela and use Settings → Your backup → Open a backup. Everything comes back, predictions included.

Do this before you wipe the old phone. There’s no copy on a server for us to restore from, which is the trade for us never having it.

Will restoring merge with what’s already there?

No, it replaces it, and it tells you so first. Two histories of the same body can’t be merged into a true one — two starts a day apart would become a one-day cycle, and nothing can tell which of a conflicting pair is real.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Erase everything. It removes every trace of ela from the phone. If you’ve used Partner Mode and want the records on our backend removed too, email us — see the privacy policy for exactly what those are.

Does ela work offline?

Tracking, predictions, insights, the calendar and the doctor summary all work with no connection at all, because none of them touch a network. Partner Mode needs one, since it has to reach the other phone.

Partner Mode

My code isn’t working.

Codes are single-use and expire after seven days. If yours has been used or has aged out, generate a new one from the Partner screen. Codes aren’t case-sensitive, and the alphabet deliberately leaves out characters that get misread aloud.

My partner says nothing is arriving.

Have them pull down to refresh on their home screen. There are no push notifications yet, so an app sitting closed won’t know anything new has landed until it’s opened. If it still doesn’t appear, check you’re both connected — the Partner screen names the person you’re paired with.

How do I disconnect?

Settings → Disconnect, or the menu on your partner’s home screen if you’re on that side. It takes effect immediately and doesn’t need the other person’s agreement.

What exactly can my partner see?

Only your cycle day and phase, and only your predicted next period — each behind its own switch, both off until you turn them on. Nothing else is shareable. The full list is on the Partner Mode page.

Subscription

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t do either for you — Apple handles the billing — but write to us anyway if something’s wrong.

I paid and Partner Mode is still locked.

Open Settings → Restore purchases. That asks the App Store what your Apple Account owns and unlocks it. If it still doesn’t, email us with the date of purchase and we’ll sort it.

Health

Can I use ela to avoid or achieve pregnancy?

No. Fertile days are an estimate worked out from the dates you’ve entered, not a measurement, and they must not be used as a method of contraception. If you’re trying to conceive, ela can show you the estimate — but talk to a clinician, not an app.

My cycle changed a lot. Is something wrong?

ela can’t tell you, and won’t pretend to. What it can do is show you plainly that a cycle fell outside your usual range, and hand you a one-page summary of your own history to take to a doctor. Cycles shift for all sorts of ordinary reasons; if it keeps happening, it’s worth asking someone qualified.

Still stuck?

Write to us. Tell us what happened and what you expected instead — that’s usually enough to find it.
